Housing and Homelessness

Trauma-Informed Care

Duration: 1 day

The person-centred perspective seeks to understand each person's experiences and realizes the impacts of trauma. We teach about the types of trauma, signs, symptoms and potential paths for recovery, and provide fully integrated knowledge to resist re-traumatization. Recognizing that trauma is more than reducing psychiatric symptoms, it is more than reducing substance use, it is more than participating in services, it is about the quality of life and the pursuit of everyday things that are meaningful to the consumer. The advantages of person-centred trauma-informed care in working with people who experience homelessness are innumerable.
